The last time Sweet set foot in Li\u00e8ge, things went very badly. It was in May 1972 at the Barker Mini-Club in Liers, and the rogues ended up as friends (in St-L\u00e9onard prison!) after inappropriate behavior with young ladies. The incorrigibles were thus declared persona non grata in Belgium for a time. It was the (good) time of bubble gum ditties concocted by hitmakers Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.<\/p>\n

Much water has flowed under the bridge. The glam kings became huge (with albums as strong as “Sweet Fanny Adams”, “Desolation Boulevard”, “Give Us a Wink”, “Off The Record” and “Level Headed”) and the number 1 glam band (watch out, there’s a match with Slade – well, Noddy Holder’s) withstood everything (and influenced everyone) before the main protagonists (Connelly, Priest and Tucker) dropped like flies. Luckily, we still have guitarist Andy Scott and his young lieutenants who, as at every concert, come and slam “Teenage Rampage”, “Ballroom Blitz”, “Blockbuster”, “Hell Raiser”, “Action” and other “Set Me Free”. Nothing new under the sun except a maximum of glitter, fun, basic rock and exuberance.<\/p>\n
