The German maestro loves Liège. Having come to our Ardent City a good ten times with the Scorpions in almost every venue and club, the Düsseldorf native has become friends over the years with quite a few Liège residents. Thus, at our first GARF at Fonck in 2019, Uli was the artist or band that received the most acclaim from the audience.
Bringing him back to Chênée (two concerts with the Scorpions in 1977 and 1978 and a Hendrix Tribute with Such A Noise and Randy Hansen in 1991)? A no-brainer, as the fond memories remain vivid for this guitar hero, a follower of the great Jimi, and a lover of classical music and philosophy. Great in a Scorpions with romantic and sometimes psychedelic aims (the Schenker/Meine duo challenged Uli in terms of writing), terribly fine, personal and grandiloquent (Beyond The Astrial Skies – 1985) in an Electric Sun very out of phase with the “mainstream” Scorpions, Uli presents himself as an adored virtuoso (Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen, Marty Friedman of Megadeth, Eric Peterson of Testament… are his biggest fans). We are proud to present to you again (but as a star this time and with a full show) this big name from the golden age of rock, still very green at 70 springs.
Uli Jon Roth’s new show is titled “Pictures of Destiny.” He will present new compositions, a new set adorned with his paintings, and a selection from his brilliant career.
Liège drummer Rudy Lenners, his former partner in the Scorpions between 1975 and 1978, will play a few songs with his friend. Naturally, Scorpions!
Don’t miss this Uli tour. It’s one of the few dates on our continent in 2025.
